Emily Thompson is not your typical 7th grader. From her multiple musical talents to her interest in Japanese culture, which has led her to begin learning the language, Emily is a young girl with big dreams and great ambition. So, when she began telling her parents she felt more tired than usual, they could only assume her ambitious nature was beginning to catch up to her. When they began to notice that Emily was developing bruises that were not going away though, they decided it was time to go to the doctor. The week that followed was a blur, as Emily underwent a number of tests and was rapidly transported to Children’s Medical in Dallas. When the results finally came back the Thompson family found their world turned upside-down: Emily had severe aplastic anemia and would need a bone marrow transplant to survive. With no matching donors within her family, Emily must now rely on a stranger to save her life.
It just takes a cheek swab to register. YOU might be the ONE person who can provide a second chance at life for Emily or another patient in need.
