Veer's Story

If you’re aged 18-55 and in general good health, request a swab kit to become a potential blood stem cell donor today. There couldn't be an easier way to saving lives. You never know, this may end up helping someone you love one day also.

In 2019, Veer (then three) was sadly diagnosed with Fanconi Anaemia, a rare genetic disease. As a result, his bone marrow does not function properly. His family have been told that his best hope of survival is a blood stem cell transplant. Unfortunately Veer’s sister, the most likely family member to be a good match was found not to be. So the family must look to the stem cell register for an unrelated donor.

Currently only 2% of the US population are registered as potential blood stem cell donors. And globally the stats are even worse. Also, due to a lack of diversity in the global registers, patients like Veer from minority ethnic communities have just a 20% chance of finding a stem cell donor compared to 69% from those of a Northern European background.

Let’s change these statistics together and change lives. Every donor could make the difference. You could make a difference.
