World Blood Cancer Day 2018 has proved to be a major milestone for DKMS. We've reached 1 million registered potential lifesavers!
That one millionth registrant is 18 year old Vinnie Drewery, pictured here with his great grandmother, from Staten Island, New York. Vinnie joined the registry in April after seeing a DKMS social media post calling for donors. Vinnie's great-grandmother is battling cancer right now.
DKMS gave him the wonderful news of this milestone while he was getting ready for prom. When asked why he registered, he simply said,
Many people in my family have been affected by cancer, and I wanted to do something to help others going through the same pain and fear. DKMS gave me that opportunity.
