Every year, more than 14,000 patients with blood cancers (like leukemia) need a bone marrow transplant from an unrelated donor to help save their life. Sadly, 6 out of 10 patients never receive the lifesaving transplant they need. This could be changed if more people registered as potential bone marrow donors.
Sign up as a bone marrow donor at the Seton Hall University Student Nurses' Association Health Fair. Registration is simple and includes an eligibility screening, filling out a form, and swabbing each cheek for 30 seconds to collect cells for use in matching with a patient.
Becoming a registered bone marrow donor means you may be the one person able to give a patient with blood cancer a second chance at life.
