Every year, nearly 14,000 patients will need a bone marrow transplant from a perfect stranger. Less than half will receive one. Danielle Stephens, a UP wife, mother of two and SMU grad had a transplant thanks to the generosity of a then anonymous donor. Danielle recently had the opportunity to meet her donor and thank him in person for providing her a second chance at life.
Help change the odds by registering as a potential bone marrow donor! Registration includes an eligibility screening, filling out a form, and swabbing each cheek for 30 seconds to collect cells for use in matching with a patient.
Registering as a potential bone marrow donor means you may be the one person able to give a patient with a blood cancer or blood disease a second chance at life.
