Every year, more than 14,000 patients with blood cancers need a bone marrow transplant from an unrelated donor to help save their life. Sadly, 6 out of 10 patients never receive the lifesaving transplant they need. This could be changed if more people registered as potential bone marrow donors.
On Wednesday, April 13, James Madison University and the Red Cross Club will be hosting a drive on campus. Registration is simple and includes an eligibility screening, filling out a form, and swabbing each cheek for 30 seconds to collect cells for use in matching with a patient.
